The 2011 Elizabeth Celtic Festival
Promotional Appearences
in the weeks leading up to the event
One way we seek to bring more people to this great festival,
is by having representation at events both near Elbert County and where
our support helps bring additional performers, merchants and artisans.
Come, and join us! It's fun to promote this festival!
If you have any "Celtic" garb, wear it. But come anyway and join us.
We're in the last two weeks:
on Sat., July 9th (one week before the Elizabeth Celtic Festival)
The Town of Elbert, 10 miles south of Kiowa
This event was not held last year, but it was held two years ago, in 2009. At that event we had a Caber Clinic after the parade.
We may try to do more this year.
Here's what we believe will be the schedule:
Parade: Form-up at 9:00 a.m. at Elbert School; Step-off at 10:00 a.m.
The parade is around a half mile long.
Caber Clinic (& Braemar Stone) at 11:00 a.m., south of the baseball field (next to the tractor pull).
The clinic will probably run for 90 minutes or so, depending on interest (and weather).
Here are some photos from the 2009 Scottish Sports Clinic at Elbert.

Where we've been:
Our most recent events are first, with our early events, going back to St. Patrick's day, further down.
Elbert County Relay for Life
at Elizabeth High School, on Friday evening, June 24.
Besides being a great cause... this is a great community event.
We had an information tent here, and spoke to folks about the Celtic Festival.
The Memory Walk (once around the track) with the pipe band playing Amazing Grace, was really
something. What a profound and stirring event--everything by candle light. Once again, the
local and regional volunteers and staff of the American Cancer Society did a super job.

Left: The Elbert County Rodeo Royalty came by.
Right: A prayer before the pipers play Amazing Grace.

Left: The Start of the Memory Lap.
Right: Afterwards, with some of the Celtic Festival participants

The contingent of pipers from the 79th Highlanders Pipe Band were much appreciated
at the Relay.

Parker Days Festival Parade...
not too hot, no rain, and a gentle breeze to show the flags.

The Highland Dancers were very popular.

We're actually doing a bit of a speed march, here, to close the gap with the units ahead.

Home in Elizabeth:

Calhan had great weather and a great parade
