2010 Elizabeth Celtic Festival
Clans & Celtic Nations

It's just not about where you came from...
It's just as much about a state of mind, a sense of spirit.

The Elizabeth Celtic Festival seeks to celebrate not only the customs, cultures and traditions of the original "home" Celtic countries...
but to also embrace countries and peoples who impacted the Celtic countries, or who have a Celtic legacy.

Take the tartan (or "plaid" as Americans might say): There are now over 3,000 different tartans. Not just Clan tartans, like Clan Ross, for instance, but "area" or "district" tartans. There are tartans associated with nearly forty states, and Colorado has an official tartan. Further, there are tartans that represent the different armed forces of the United States; there are tartans designed and registered by colleges, organizations companies. Here are some links to this remarkable trend, which speaks to the amazing influence and appeal of tartans, Scotland, everyone's "home" country or group.
