The 2008 Elizabeth Celtic Festival
Clan Registration Information

Date of Festival: Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20, 2008

(The "Third Full Weekend of July" and one week after the CUIS Irish Festival)

This year, the heart of the Celtic Festival (and all clan societies) will be in the pine trees of Casey Jones Park (just south of the baseball fields). Based on feed-back from last year's attending clans, we will have all the clans together in an arc, along Aberdeen Lane and Dunvegan Lane, essentially on the north and east sides of the Scottish Athletics field (Braemar Glen). Tents will be on either side of these "paths," pretty close together (15 foot frontage in most cases, although it could be less).

Several of the sites are not flat, but on a slight slope. Some tent locations have some shade, though most do not. All are on "forest grass" and pine needles and pine cones.

Information in a nutshell:

  • Fee for clan space: $25 for a 10' x 10' space ($50 for a 20' x 10' space). Clans may choose to come only one day or both days--the fee is the same either way. Application Deadline is July 1st, 2008.

  • Each clan or celtic organization must be self-contained--please bring your own tents, tables and chairs.

  • Recommended check-in and set-up is on Friday afternoon, starting at 4:00 p.m. (ending at 8:00 p.m.). In most cases you will be able to drive your vehicle next to your tent site to off load.

  • Early Saturday morning set-up: Vehicle access for off-loading from 7:00-8:00 a.m. All vehicles must be off the grounds by 8:30 a.m.; "Gates open at 9:00 a.m." for the public.

  • Mid-Day Ceremonies are at 1:00 p.m. both days (form-up location announced at the Festival")

  • Saturday Evening "Calling of the Clans" torch-light ceremony: Meet near front gate at 8:00 p.m. Ceremony will start around 8:15 p.m. not far from the front gate in the sandy (and safe) parking area between the baseball field and the main Celtic Festival forest. If you're taking part and want a torch, register on the form.

  • Sunday Morning "Kirkin' of the Tartans"--Procession forms near the front gate at 9:15 a.m. and marches at 9:25 a.m. to arrive at the Dublin Stage (Dance Stage) at 9:30 a.m., when the Kirkin' starts. The service should be around a half hour. If you're going to be in the procession and posting a banner at the stage, please mark that on the Clan form so that we have enough banner holding racks in place.

  • Awards for BEST CLAN TENT, BEST IN PARADE and BEST CLAN OF THE FESTIVAL, awarded Sunday at Mid-Day Ceremonies.
